 Payroll is one of the areas where small mistakes can quietly cause big problems. Super not calculating correctly, leave accruing the wrong way, STP not reporting what it should — these things can build up in the background without anyone realising until something goes wrong.


A lot of business owners we speak to feel like payroll is probably fine — but they're not completely sure. Maybe you set it up yourself and haven't had it checked. Maybe someone else was managing it and you've taken it over. Maybe it's always just been done a certain way and you've never had reason to question it.


That's exactly what this review is for.

what we look at

 This is a structured review of how your payroll is set up and how it's been running — not just a quick glance, but a proper look at whether everything is configured correctly and behaving the way it should.


We look at things like:

  • Payroll settings and employee profile setup.
  • Pay items, superannuation settings and how earnings are classified.
  • Leave categories, how they accrue and whether balances look right.
  • Single Touch Payroll reporting position.
  • How payroll is mapping through to your accounts.
  • How onboarding, terminations and role changes have been handled.


We also look at a sample of historical pay runs to check whether what's actually been processed matches how things are supposed to be set up — and to spot any inconsistencies or areas of concern.

 Once the review is complete you'll receive a clear summary of what we found, including:

  • What's set up correctly and working as it should.
  • Any risks, gaps or areas of concern.
  • Practical recommendations for what needs to be fixed.
  • Suggested next steps in plain English.


If corrections or configuration changes are needed we can quote for that separately — so you know exactly what's involved and what it will cost before any work begins.

  To complete the review properly we'll need temporary access to your payroll and accounting software — just so we can see how things are set up and look at historical pay runs. No changes are made during the review, and access can be removed as soon as we're done.


Before we get started we'll get together and have a quick conversation about your payroll setup, how many employees you have and what's prompted you to reach out — so we can make sure the review is focused on the right areas.
