 If you’re managing your bookkeeping yourself — or you’ve recently taken over a file — it can be hard to know whether everything has been entered, reconciled and reported correctly.

Many business owners reach a point where they think:

“I think everything is right… but I’d like someone to double-check,” or
“Things mostly make sense — but I’m not confident everything is reconciled properly.”


The Bookkeeping Health Check is a structured, one-off review designed to give you clarity and confidence in your records — particularly around reconciliations, obligations, balances and bookkeeping foundations.

It’s a practical, supportive review — not fault-finding — and it focuses on whether your bookkeeping is accurate, compliant, and behaving as expected inside the software.


what this review focuses on

 Rather than checking every individual transaction, this Health Check looks at whether the accounts are correctly structured, reconciled and positioned for reliable reporting.


During the review, I assess areas such as:

  • bank and clearing account balances & reconciliation status
  • GST, BAS, PAYG and Superannuation obligation positioning
  • chart of accounts structure and coding consistency
  • key balance sheet items and timing behaviour
  • software setup and connected apps (where relevant)
     

The goal is to help you understand:

  • where your records appear accurate and consistent
  • where risks, gaps or timing distortions may exist
  • and what may need attention to strengthen compliance and reporting confidence

  • or deeper financial interpretation
     

because it helps identify what needs attention — and in what order.

 You’ll receive:

  • a structured summary of key observations
  • areas that may require attention or further work
  • practical recommendations to strengthen accuracy & compliance
  • guidance on appropriate next steps
     

If follow-up work is needed, this is discussed separately and quoted as a separate engagement — so you remain in full control of next steps.

software access

 To complete this review meaningfully, I will require temporary access to your accounting software so I can review reconciliations, balances, workflows and reporting behaviour within your file.

Access is arranged securely after booking, and can be removed at any time once the review is complete.

scope note

 This service does not include a detailed payroll review or compliance assessment.


If your primary concerns relate to payroll setup, awards, superannuation, or employment-related obligations, the Payroll Review & Risk Check will be the more suitable service.


what this review does not include

  The Bookkeeping Health Check does not include:

  • bookkeeping corrections or cleanup work
  • lodging obligations or making adjustments
  • forecasting or advisory interpretation
  • detailed transaction-level audit
     

If corrective work is recommended, this will be discussed separately under a different engagement before any changes are made.


This ensures that any action taken is deliberate, clearly scoped and appropriate.
