If you do your own bookkeeping — or you've taken over someone else's file — it can be hard to know for sure whether everything has been entered, reconciled and reported the way it should be.
Most people who book a Health Check say some version of the same thing: “I think it's all right… but I'd like someone to double-check.”
That's exactly what this is. A one-off review of your books by a registered BAS Agent, so you know what's working, what needs attention and what to do about it — all explained in plain English, not accounting speak.
what we look at
Rather than checking every single transaction, we look at whether your books are set up properly and behaving the way they should. That includes:
- whether your bank accounts and clearing accounts are reconciled properly
- where you stand with GST, BAS, PAYG and super
- how your accounts are structured and whether things are coded consistently
- key balance sheet items where problems tend to hide
- how your software and any connected apps are set up
At the end, you'll know where your records are solid, where the risks or gaps are, and what needs attention first.
who it's for
The Health Check is a good fit if you:
- do your own books and want reassurance everything is set up and reconciled correctly
- are getting ready for EOFY, BAS time, an accountant review or a handover
- have just started your business and want confidence you're starting from the right place
- have a feeling something isn't quite right but can't put your finger on it
It's also a sensible first step before catch-up work or a system change — because it tells you what actually needs fixing, and in what order.
what you'll get
After the review, you'll receive a clear summary of what we found, what needs attention in order of priority, practical recommendations to keep your books accurate and compliant, and guidance on next steps.
If any follow-up work is needed, we'll talk it through and quote it separately — so you stay in control of what happens next.
what it doesn't cover
The Health Check is a review, not a fix-up. It doesn't include corrections or cleanup work, lodging anything with the ATO, or a detailed payroll review. If your main concern is payroll, the Payroll Review & Risk Check is the better fit.
If the review shows that work is needed, nothing changes in your file until we've agreed on the scope and cost together.

To do the review properly we'll need temporary access to your accounting software. Access is set up securely after booking and can be removed as soon as the review is done.
